Senate Bill 2471, the Legislature’s attempt to circumvent the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United ruling allowing corporations to spend unlimited “dark money” to influence elections, is a noble effort to reform elections.

Letter: Hawaii’s opportunity to right SCOTUS wrong Hawaii Senate Bill 2471 has a very real chance of countering the devastation to our election processes caused by the 2010 Supreme Court decision in Citizens United v. FEC. Prior to that decision, we did not have unlimited corporate money from unknown sources flowing into our election from super PACs and capturing the politicians who won those elections.
