The same week I met Pope Leo XIV, I watched my eldest son graduate.

Like any parent, I felt immense pride seeing him step into adulthood. Christopher Olah, a 33-year-old Canadian researcher and co-founder of artificial intelligence company Anthropic, participated on Monday at the Vatican during the presentation of "Magnifica Humanitas," Pope Leo XIV's first encyclical dedicated to artificial intelligence. The document, published on May 25, establishes the pontiff's doctrinal stance on AI development and warns about its social, economic, and military impacts. During the event, Olah spoke alongside Church authorities and external specialists to address the ethical challenges of advanced language models.
