The European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) announced that it is investigating a suspected EUR 3.5 million fraud scheme involving EU funding intended for small farms and young farmers in Romania. The case concerns 237 agricultural projects allegedly submitted using false documents to obtain non-repayable European funds. Searches were carried out in Dâmbovița county on May 13, and one suspect was arrested a day later by the Bucharest Tribunal at the request of the European prosecutors.
