The Global Preparedness Monitoring Board, backed by the WHO and World Bank, released a report concluding that the world remains dangerously unprepared for pandemics despite a decade of warnings from Ebola and six years of COVID-19 trauma. The report finds that outbreaks are becoming more frequent and severe, vaccine equity has reversed (monkeypox vaccines reached poor countries two years after outbreak onset), and societies face future crises with less economic stability, lower trust in institutions, and higher division than in 2014.
