[Independent (Kampala)] Kampala -- For weeks, Christian Congolese pilgrims had been walking. From the crowded trading centres in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, from villages shadowed by militia violence and chronic displacement, the pilgrims comprising men, women and children had already begun the long annual trek to Uganda for the June 3 Martyrs' Day celebrations at Namugongo Martyrs Shrines.
