The US Central Command (CENTCOM) writes on X that they used fighter jets to fire at and stop an Iranian-flagged ship in the Gulf of Oman. They believe the ship violated the US blockade of Iranian ports. According to CENTCOM, it is an empty oil tanker that attempted to enter an Iranian port at 3 p.m. today. They say they warned the ship several times that it was violating the US blockade. CENTCOM says they put the ship's rudder "out of action" when the crew did not heed the warnings, and that they fired with machine gun from an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jet, which took off from the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
