Iran questions ‘seriousness’ of the US to Turkish foreign minister Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi expressed scepticism on Saturday about US intentions in ceasefire negotiations during a phone call with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan. “The recent escalation of tensions by US forces and their multiple ceasefire violations reinforce suspicions about the motivation and seriousness of the US side on the path of diplomacy,” Araghchi was quoted as saying by Iranian media. US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he was expecting a response from Iran regarding a proposed settlement aimed at permanently ending hostilities, though Tehran has yet to comment publicly on the proposal.
