Luis de Guindos, the outgoing vice president of the European Central Bank (ECB), said on Sunday that Spain should retain a seat on the bank's executive board, and that even assuming the presidency remains a possibility. De Guindos, who previously served as Spain's economy minister, will leave his post at the end of the month, to be succeeded by Croatian Boris Vucic, leaving Spain without representation on the board. However, three seats on the six-member board will become vacant next year, including that of ECB President Christine Lagarde.
