Saidou Maïdadi, national communication secretary of Cameroon's opposition National Union for Democracy and Progress (UNDP), died on May 7, 2026 at a hospital in Yaoundé following illness. A veteran opposition activist who had moved through three political parties over his career, Maïdadi had been a visible public face for the UNDP, whose presidential candidate secured only 2.45% of votes in the October 2025 election.
