Call it "Irish goodbye", "French exit", as the Brazilians say, "filer à l 'anglaise" ("English exit"), as the French prefer, or "Polnischer Abgang" ("Polish exit"), as the Germans speak, the act of discreetly leaving a party, without fanfare, is a well-known social impulse. Whatever the expression, however, the concept is the same: one moment you are there, the next you have already disappeared into the night without a long round of explanations, hugs and promises to meet again soon.
