For the second year in a row, Tennessee’s Republican lawmakers narrowly passed legislation to expand the state’s private school voucher program. The first iteration of the bill created school vouchers only for Nashville and Memphis. The original voucher program passed the Tennessee state House 50-48 in 2019, clearing the constitutionally-required 50-vote threshold by one vote.
