Authorities in Medellín identified the remains of a man who disappeared in September 2002 during the Colombian armed conflict, buried in the mass grave site La Escombrera in Commune 13. The victim, 23 at the time of his disappearance, was attributed to the Cacique Nutibara Bloc of the AUC paramilitary group and became the first identified victim from the eastern sector of the city. His family held a funeral service this month after forensic analysis by the JEP and National Institute of Forensic Medicine confirmed his identity, marking one of seven victims recovered from the site so far.
