Colombia's Ministry of Transport is investigating 37 transit agencies nationwide for violations in operating traffic speed cameras, potentially invalidating more than 5.8 million unpaid photofines issued since 2018. The probe, concentrated in major cities including Cali, Medellín, Bogotá, and Barranquilla, has found that agencies operated cameras without proper technical authorization and issued citations before obtaining required permits. Transport Minister Mafe Rojas stated the actions aim to protect citizens' due process, and drivers who have not paid fines should not initiate revocation procedures as these will be handled automatically.
