Spain's Transportation Ministry announced plans to accelerate rail service improvements between Madrid and Extremadura by implementing a temporary high-speed connection in the Bargas area near Toledo while conducting a new study on permanent route layouts through Toledo. The temporary connection will allow trains to use portions of the Madrid-Seville high-speed line combined with electrified conventional rail, reducing travel times pending completion of more detailed design studies.
