Hungary has agreed to support annual EU sanctions renewals against Russia, moving away from its previous six-month approval model under Viktor Orbán. The shift reflects the new government of Prime Minister Peter Magyar, whose party defeated Orbán partly on promises to restore Budapest's EU relations. The same day, Hungary lifted its veto on Ukraine's EU accession negotiations following a bilateral deal on minority rights and the resumption of oil transit through the Druzhba pipeline.
