A video clip featuring statements by pro-Kremlin expert Boris Rozhin about the endless assault by the Russian Armed Forces on the village of Malaya Tokmachka in Zaporizhzhia region appeared in mid-April — and very quickly became the most popular military meme of 2026. This toponym was indeed regularly mentioned in reports by Russian "military correspondents" as "almost cleared" — week after week, month after month. And the evolution of the meme gave it a whole spectrum of meanings: there is the obvious indication of lies by Russian military personnel and bloggers close to them, and the ungainly name of a small village for which the Russian Armed Forces are willing to sacrifice hundreds of lives — a symbol of the meaninglessness of continuing the war.
